Aziz Mahmud Hudayi was born in ereflikoçhisar, Central Anatolia, and his Hashemite heritage led him to pursue his education in Istanbul, where he finished his studies in a madrasa. He became well-known as the Sheikh of Sultan Ahmed I, who ordered the construction of the famous Blue Mosque, the site of the first Friday prayer led by Aziz Mahmud Hudayi. He was well respected and even had an impact on Sultan Murad III.
